I was listening to the Wicked soundtrack for the first time last night and was getting very excited for our trip THIS weekend. It's coming up very quickly! And we've got two completely full buses--hooray! I've written up a lot of info that I thought I'd send to everyone and post on the blog so here it is. I've also attached itineraries and lists for both the small bus and big bus so that everyone knows where they're going. As always, let me know if you have any questions!
RANDOM NOTES AND INFO
Seating on the bus is first come, first served—no assigned seats. All will be filled so make sure you sit by someone you like!
We will have a DVD player on the bus that will play movies like in an airplane. If you have any good flicks you want to bring that we can all watch, please do (just make sure they’re appropriate for all ages). We will also have satellite TV to watch as well and if my girls have their way, be prepared for eight straight hours of Hannah Montana (just kidding…)
The bus will be equipped with wireless internet access so laptops are welcome. I’m not sure about electrical plugs, however, so plan accordingly.
I have made myself the big bus photographer and will be taking a lot of pictures along the way that I will post somewhere for everyone to access once we get back. I would love it if there is a volunteer who will do the same for the small bus so that those photos can be posted and accessed from the same place as well.
I just received my final seating chart from the theater this week. I am planning on having the tickets sent to the hotel and distributing them on Saturday morning. Most of the seats are close together in a big block and are in the back of the upper orchestra. I will do my best to put everyone together who wants to be together. Please keep in mind that I got the very best seats that were available—it was a fast selling show for a large theater and a long run and this is the only weekend day that was left when I bought them (way back in May when they first went on sale). The ladies in the Group Sales department that I’ve been working with have assured me that all the seats have unobstructed views and even though we are in the back of the theater, it was a much better choice than sitting in the balcony or mezzanine. I will do my best to distribute them the best way possible and I hope that everyone will be happy with their seats. I’ll just be happy to have a ticket to the show (which is a lot more than I can say for when it was here in Salt Lake!).
A couple of months ago, I sent out an email about the upgraded seats that miraculously became available. There was a total of 10. My little group took four and I offered the remaining six to whoever wanted them for an extra $20 per ticket (because they are in the Golden Circle section, they did cost a little more than the regular tickets). Initially, all six were taken but since then, one of the ladies has had to back out of the trip. So I’ve got one left for whoever wants it. The people who are currently sitting in these seats are: Jennifer Kofford, Avarie Kofford, Elleke Kofford, Eleanor Newman, Shanna Black, Lori Maughn, Linda Lewis, Michelle Sonderegger and Shannon Bursach. If you want to come sit by us, let me know. If I don’t get any takers, I will use it as one of the prizes for the drawing (and then you’ll be FORCED to come sit by us!). They are amazing seats—14 rows back in the center section.
As we are checking in to the hotel, please have someone in your room be prepared to give a credit card number for incidentals. I don’t want to be stuck with paying for all your late-night long distance calls to China or raids on the mini bar (for Diet Coke and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, of course).
There are a few nice hotels/motels in Layton and South Weber that are close to the Park and Ride lot. If you feel like you might be too tired to drive home when we get back, you may want to look into them as an option for Saturday night. I’d be happy to pass on more specific information to anyone who’s interested.
I’ve put together an Itinerary and Passenger List that you should have received via email. If you didn't, please let me know. Make sure to look them over and print out your itinerary so that there is no confusion about where and when you should be meeting your bus or about where and when you need to be during the trip. Also, if there is anyone in your group who does not use email, please try to get this information to them. Thanks!
If there is anything I haven’t answered here, please feel free to call or email me anytime. If I think of anything else or if I get a good question that everyone needs to know the answer to, I’ll get the word out. Everyone cross your fingers for good road trip weather and start packing--we leave in five days!
Get your green on!
P.S. Here’s contact info for the hotel and for me if you need to leave it with anyone here at home.

4 weeks and counting...
In exactly four weeks from right now, we will be driving across the Wyoming prairie and basking in the glow of all things Wicked. I can't believe we're that close! I have been working on the final arrangements with the hotel and charter company as well as putting together the goody bags. Don't report me to the child labor authorities but I'm pretty sure my three-year-old and seven-year-old will soon be working in what qualifies as a sweatshop once I start putting their little hands to work to help me out. Anyway, I will be posting and sending out the final news and information in the next couple of weeks so keep checking back so you stay in the loop. And if you're thinking about joining us still or you know someone who is, please send them my way! I have a few spots left and would love to fill them up. Dang, it was a nice day today--don't you just love fall?

just joining us?
If you're looking into snagging one of the last few highly-coveted spots, I just wanted to let you know that you can secure it with a signed Tour Contract and $50 deposit now and then the remaining balance would be due by October 15th. Seeing as how September 1st has passed (and I just decided to do the second bus in the middle of August), I thought I'd better give everyone who's just signing up now a little more time to pay off their balances if they need it. I can definitely work with you as well if we need to so please let me know if you need a little more time. Thanks!

Hey all! Just started a Facebook group to try to get the word out so I can fill up the remaining spots (right now it looks like I've got 17). Join up if you want--anyone is welcome! The group is called (no surprise) "Wicked Trip 2009". Heading to Swiss Days tomorrow to shop and do a little advertising. Maybe I'll see you there. Nighty night!

holy cow!
Where has the time gone? I can't believe summer is already over and the kids are back in school. What happened? It just gets us that much closer to our departure date though--how exciting!
So some things have been happening behind the scenes so I thought I'd just get everyone caught up to speed so here they are:
1. There are officially two buses. The large 56-seat bus will be leaving from Davis County and going the northern route through Wyoming. The small 29-seat bus will be leaving from Lehi and stopping in Crescent Junction, taking the southern route. We are planning to all meet up in Ft. Collins at the hotel. The reason for the two routes is that we have a large group from southeastern Utah that is going and this is a way to help reduce a huge amount of driving for them. Let's all cross our fingers that everything goes according to plan! The southern bus people have been contacted and you know who you are. If you don't know which bus you're on, let me know and I'll tell you.
2. I still have spots available! Because I added the second bus I now find myself needing to fill some seats--and I would love your help! As of right now I've got 3 on the small bus and 17 on the big bus. I'm doing as much (free) advertising as I can and if you've got any way to spread the word, please do. Pass on my contact info to anyone and everyone, send out emails to your family and friends, post it on your blog, hang a sign up at work or your gym, whatever! I'd really appreciate it.
3. For those of you who still owe a balance, the September 1st payoff date is looming. Feel free to contact me if you need to know how much you owe.
4. I'm finalizing room lists to pass along to the hotel and there are some issues that need to be worked out. Please let me know who you want to be in a room with so that I know who is going where and exactly how many rooms I need. I also need to make sure that there are four people to the rooms that paid for quads, three for triples, etc. Let me know if you have questions about this as well.
That's it for this post, I think. Hope everyone had a wonderful summer!

updates and info
I thought I'd post the updates and info I sent in last night's email just in case you're checking here so here it is:
DISCOUNT PAYOFF DEADLINE HAS COME AND GONE
The July 1st early bird discount deadline has passed. Oh my! I know from your paperwork that many of you were planning on the spectacular $199 price and to get that price, you were supposed to send in your balance by July 1st. Because I was out of town and because of the busy 4th of July holiday weekend, I did not send out a reminder email as I intended to. Therefore, I have decided to extend the deadline by a few days so that if you still want to get the discounted rate, you can. Your payment MUST be postmarked by July 15--otherwise, the price will go up by $20 per person. If you don't make this deadline, you still have until September 1st to pay off the balance. Let me know if you have any questions regarding the balance that you owe.
INCREDIBLE TICKETS!
I was talking, once again, to the lovely Tina today and she informed me that a block of 10 tickets 14 rows back in the center had just become available. Well, my friends, I jumped right on them! My little group is taking 4 of them leaving 6 available for anyone else who wants them. As I cannot, in good conscience, show any favoritism, it's a first-come, first-served thing. If you want one, email me back and let me know. I will distribute them in the order of replies I receive. Because they are better seats, they do cost a little more so if you want them, you will need to pay an additional $20 per ticket. Your payment must be postmarked by July 15. If it isn't, I will offer them to the next person on the list.
SECOND BUS?
I am so happy that the party bus is full! But, at the same time, I am sad that some people who want to go are unable to because I don't have the room. So, I'm thinking about contracting a second (smaller) bus that will take an additional 29 people. They'll get all the perks of the original trip (transportation on a deluxe motor coach, hotel, breakfast on Saturday, upper orchestra ticket to show, entry into drawings and goody bag), but just be on another bus. I've already reserved the tickets and spoken with the charter company and the hotel and everything looks good. Now all I need to know is if I can fill it up. If you know anyone who wanted to go but missed out or if you think someone else would want to come along, spread the word and tell them to let me know as soon as possible so I can make all the arrangements. Prices will be $219 for a quad, $239 for a triple, $249 for a double and $269 for a single and payoff deadline will be September 1st.
HAVEN'T YOU ALWAYS WANTED TO DRIVE ALL THE WAY ACROSS WYOMING?
There have been some questions about the route we are taking. As of now, the route will be up Weber Canyon on I-84, then onto I-80 through Wyoming and cutting down into Denver on I-25. It's the shortest and most direct route from Salt Lake/Davis County and our hotel is right on the way (about an hour north of Denver). Of course, weather can always be a factor, and we may have to take another way, but for now, the plan is to experience the wonderful sights and sounds of our sister state to the northeast. Also, I haven't yet finalized the departure point, but I'm 99.9% sure it will be the Park and Ride lot located in northern Davis County just off Highway 89 that was used during the Olympics. It's about a mile south of the on-ramp to I-84 which is right where we are headed. It's also close to my house in case I forget anything (like the tickets)...
SAY CHEESE!
I am making myself the official photographer of the trip and will be taking pictures of everyone as you're getting on the bus as well as some shots along the way. When we get back, I'll upload them all to a site (like SmugMug) where you can view them all and then save and print whatever you want. So be ready for your close up--you'll never know when the camera will be on you!
That's it for now. 127 days and counting!

hot tip
So I've made a few trips to Old Navy lately and I've noticed something--there is an abundance of cute EMERALD green tops all over the store! Even better, most of them are on sale. So if you've got an ON in your neighborhood, swing on by and pick up some Wicked green duds for the trip. Hope you're having a wonderful summer!

deadline looming
Just wanted to post a quick reminder that the July 1st deadline is just two days away! If you still owe a balance, send it in speedy quick so you can get that early bird discount. Otherwise, the price goes up by $20 per person. I'll accept anything that's postmarked by July 1st as in by the deadline. Let me know if you have questions!

good news and bad news
The good news is that the trip is on, everything is arranged and everyone is super excited to go! The bad news is there is way more interest than I have room for. I just want to emphasize again something from the first post and from the Tour Contract:
Even though your name may be on the list, your spot is not officially secured until I have received your signed Tour Contract and deposit or payment in full. All spaces are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Because that is the only fair way for me to do it, some of you who think you are going may miss out because someone else has sent in money before you. The only way I can guarantee your spot is for you to send in your stuff. I will send you a confirmation email to let you know I've received your payment and that you are official. So don't wait--I don't want to give you the bad news that you're not going!
Send any questions my way!

tour contract is here!
OK, gang. Here's the link to the Tour Contract (it's also in the list of links on the right). Just click the link, download the file, open it (it's a PDF document), print it, read it, sign it and send it along with your deposit or full payment to me. As you're going over it, you may notice that I extended the discount payoff deadline for another month. You now have until July 1st to get the early bird price! As always, let me know if you have any questions about that or about anything else. Also, I've only got about 14 spots left, so sign up today so you don't get left behind!

check out the links
Look to the right! I've just added some fun links to help us all get both excited and prepared for the trip. If you know of others that would be good to add to the list, leave me a comment and I'll put it on. Happy planning!

important updates!
So things are coming together and, even though the trip is still a few months away, I'm getting excited! Here are a few updates:
1. It's filling up! It's over halfway full and right now there are just 21 spaces left. So if you're on the fence, don't delay. Give me a call and get on the list!
2. New triple and single pricing. If you pay in full by May 31, here are the prices (per person): quad--$199, triple--$219, double--$229, single--$249
I think that's it for now. As always, let me know if you have questions and keep checking back for more updates!

frequently asked questions
OK, so you're all talking. Maybe you're deciding if you should go. Maybe you're trying to gather your group together. Maybe you're just a procrastinator (like me) and haven't gotten around to calling and signing up yet. Whatever the case may be, I've had a few questions that I thought I'd address in case you're wondering the same thing.
Q. Have you bought all the tickets to the show?
A. No. I have enough reserved with the lovely Tina (I don't really know--I've never seen her, just talked to her on the phone but she sounds lovely) at the theater there in Denver to accommodate as many people as will fit on the bus. Once I get the numbers all worked out and know exactly how many people will be going, I will be able to purchase the tickets. But, in the meantime, they will not be sold to anyone else unless I tell her to release them.
Q. Are we going on an RV?
A. No. That would not be fun. Maybe with a smaller group it would be, but not for this trip. It is a deluxe motorcoach with storage underneath for luggage, a kind driver (I hope), wireless internet access, satellite TV, reclining seats, the works!
Q. Does the motorcoach have a restroom?
A. Yes! Thank goodness, right? We don't want to be in the middle of Wyoming without a bathroom. That also would not be fun.
Q. How do the rooms work?
A. If you sign up for quad occupancy, that means you'll have four to your room in two queen beds. If you sign up for double, you'll have two in your room and you can choose either two queens or one king. So, if you want to know everyone in your room, you may want to gather a group of four or two and tell me who wants to be together when you book. If there are just three that want to be together, let me know and we can work out pricing for a triple. I could do a single price as well if you just want to be alone! I can also group partial groups or singles together to share a room if you want to get the quad occupancy price.
I think that's all for now. I will be posting the Tour Contract in the next couple of days for you to look at, sign and send in with your deposit so watch for that. If you've got any other questions you want me to address, please let me know!

who's in for a "Wicked" good time?
Last night, my seven-year-old daughter and I shuffled sadly away from the Capitol Theatre in Salt Lake City. After hours on the phone and online during the initial sale and after days of searching online, we had gone to try our luck at securing a couple of reasonably-priced tickets to the hottest show in town, "Wicked". We tried the lottery (with a few hundred other hopefuls), we tried the box office (several times) and even tried holding a homemade sign that declared "Need 2 Tickets". Nothing worked. We were dejected but not defeated. Instead of giving up, I decided to put together a tour to see the "Popular" musical in Denver when the production makes its stop there in the fall. So, if you, like us, were disappointed and unable to see it here in Salt Lake or if you loved it so much and just have to see it again, we'd love to have you come along! Here is a tentative itinerary and pricing:
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 13
2:00pm--Depart from the Salt Lake/Davis County area (specific place TBD) on a comfortable, deluxe motorcoach featuring restroom, reclining seats, lots of storage, wireless internet access, DVD and CD player and satellite television.
9:00pm--Arrive at Hampton Inn in Ft. Collins, Colorado, check in and relax, swim in the indoor heated pool, work out in the on-site gym or at the nearby 24-Hour Fitness (complimentary) or go to sleep.
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 14
8:30am--Breakfast at the hotel and check out.
9:30am--All aboard the motorcoach and depart hotel.
10:00am--Shopping stop at the Outlets at Loveland (Ann Taylor, Coach, Gymboree, J. Crew, Polo Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger and more) and The Promenade Shops at Centerra (Aeropostale, American Eagle Outfitters, Chico's, Express, Gap, J. Jill, Macy's, Victoria's Secret, White House Black Market and many more as well as several restaurants).
12:00pm--Back on the motorcoach.
1:00pm--Arrive Buell Theatre in Denver and attend 2:00pm matinee performance of "Wicked".
5:00pm (or right after show concludes)--Everyone back on board the motorcoach for the ride home.
1:00am (Sunday)--Arrive back at the departure point in Salt Lake/Davis County.
PRICING
Paid in full by May 31
$199 per person (quad occupancy)
$229 per person (double occupancy)
After May 31
$219 per person (quad occupancy)
$249 per person (double occupancy)
This includes:
Transportation to and from Denver on a deluxe motorcoach
Hotel for one night
Breakfast at the hotel on Saturday morning
Ticket to the show--all tickets are upper orchestra which means they are all on the floor (none in the mezzanine or balcony)
Goody bag
Entry into drawings for official "Wicked" merchandise
$50 deposit (non-refundable unless the tour is canceled) and signed Tour Contract secures your spot. Balance due by July 1st. Minimum age is four years old.
Sounds fun, right? I think so too! I am not a professional tour operator or a crazy "Wicked" fan--I'm just someone who wanted to see the show with her daughter and thought this would be a fun way to do it. So, if you're in, let me know as soon as possible. I'd like to see if I can fill the tour before I get locked into any huge financial commitments so gather your girlfriends, your sister, your daughter, your mom, your husband or whoever else and reserve your spot today. I will place your name on the list but your spot will not be officially secured until I receive your deposit and signed Tour Contract. I accept checks, money orders or PayPal payments.
I will be using this blog to communicate, update and inform as the tour starts filling up, as plans become more firm and as the date gets closer so check back often. Please feel free to contact me with questions.
P.S. This would make a great Mother's Day gift!
